Dynamic Lights Mod is an brilliant idea for Minecraft’s lighting system because it adds some touches and makes light sources glow in your hand before placing them.

Moreover, sometimes lights in Minecraft are sending a few solid black blocks that aren’t visually appealing at all, so the mod was created in order to fix these issues.

Simply put, with the help of the Dynamic Lights Mod Minecraft, you can now obtain a ton of interesting stuff that ranges from realistic skies during dawn or dusk to great shadows and so on. All of these combined successfully manage to make the mod look really great and at the same time the game manages to ooze a lot of functionality into the mix, something that you are bound to appreciate for sure.

With it you will be able to see how the area around the player is illuminated in a realistic manner when you hold a torch in your hand.

As an added bonus, the Dynamic Lights Mod Minecraft also manages to add a lot of glow and an unique appeal to the weapons, something that you are bound to like for sure. Of course, in order to use the mod you do need quite a lot of processing power, but then again this is supposed to be expected considering how nice the gameplay experience is made with the help of just a simplistic mod.

The default key is “L”. You can turn all dynamic Lights on/off with it. You can change the key in the config file.

There is no limit to the number of lights you can create, note however they are fairly FPS-costly, and the mod will attempt to reduce lighting render updates frequency if you overdo it.

I recommend using Optifine HD for replacing Notch’s funky render code with slightly less funky rendering code. Optifine should maintain full Dynamic Lights compatibility unless i break it.

The mod should work in Multiplayer by default, yet is clientside, it cannot lag servers. Note however ‘dropped’ light sources will not prevent Mobs from Spawning, and neither will your handheld light.

  • BurningEntitiesLightSource -> Living Entities that burst into flames! Multithreaded! *expensive*
  • ChargingCreeperLightSource -> Creepers about to explode light up! *cheap*
  • DroppedItemsLightSource -> Dropped Items in the world. Also when they’re on fire. Multithreaded! *expensive*
  • PlayerSelfLightSource -> Handheld Items and Armor on yourself. Also when you’re on fire. *cheap*
  • PlayerOthersLightSource -> Handheld Items and Armor on others. Also when they’re on fire. Multithreaded! *fairly cheap*

To remove modules you dont want or cant afford (your machine is an asthmatic train wreck, or a Mac), simply remove (delete) them from the mod .jar /atomicstryker/dynamiclights/client/modules folder. Yes, the mod will continue to work. If you delete all modules, the mod won’t do anything.
