It is an unfair stereotype that people who play video games are, as a rule, untidy in their personal appearance and in the appearance of their environment.  Gamers, including Minecraft players, are as likely as the general population to be drawn to things and places that look awesome.  At different times in history, there were terms for men who were always fashionably and impeccably dressed.

In Baghdad in the Abbasid period, they were called zurafa.  In the 19th century, they were called dandies.  In London in the early 1960s, they were called mods.  The attraction to things that look elaborately awesome is not limited to any one time or place.  This impulse is reflected in the world of Minecraft in the form of the MarvelousCraft Resource Pack.

The MarvelousCraft Resource Pack for Minecraft may not have been created by an interior decorator, but it is enough to make interior decorators everywhere green with envy.  Not just green, lime green, chartreuse.  Whereas in the original Minecraft, the night sky just looks like some dark blue pixels, the night sky with the MarvelousCraft Resource Pack looks so real that it makes you want to howl at the moon and wish upon a star.  A library with brick walls and bookshelves looks so cozy that you will wish that you could step into the screen and curl up next to the fireplace, where you can see the colors and textures of the flames.

This is quite an impressive feat, considering video games have been taking young people’s attention away from books since the days of Pong; it is not every day that a video game puts you in the mood to read a book in a library.  The perspective is just right on awnings and garden terraces, so that you can see not only depth but also various levels on a two dimensional screen.  With the MarvelousCraft Resource Pack for Minecraft, it is even easy to tell apart different species of trees just based on the textures of their leaves.  For example, birch leaves, jungle leaves, and spruce leaves look nothing alike.

One of the coolest things about MarvelousCraft Resource Pack for Minecraft is that, when you see a group of animals, they are not all identical.  Rather, they are randomized.  A herd of cattle, for example, might have a mixture of brown cows, black cows, and spotted cows, seen in random order.  This is a level of herd animal detail previously considered the province of Hollywood films produced by major studios.  It is on the level of the stampeding wildebeest herd in The Lion King and the sheep in Brokeback Mountain that almost no one could tell were CGI.   And of course, what fun would Minecraft be without beet plants?  The MarvelousCraft Resource Pack for Minecraft adds even more beet plants to your Minecraft playing experience and makes them so red that you want to give a bouquet of them to your sweetheart to prove your love.

Minecraft does not have to look like a game you would have played on Game Boy in 1989.  You can customize it to see all the colors and textures of the real world.
